Well it's not like I'm not giving people a choice 🙂 Though I do believe that reducing the bit depth does defeat the purpose and philosophy of having FLACs in the first place.

@[deleted], in this case you should change both of them to just CD as opposed to CD/LP

According to discogs, the catalog # for the LPs isn't the same as the one you posted, but the one for the CD is.

R.Hide in plain site: pain in the ass url

Instinctual: other pain in the ass url

the catalog # isn't the same, but they have the same tracks on them. I'll change it though.

So would anyone explain why I would use lossless FLAC over 128kb/s mp3 files? Idk I'm considering this but is it really that good?

flac just means that no data is lost. some people can hear the different between flac and mp3, others can't. if you're fine with 128kbs (you shouldn't be), then good for you.

Do flac files take up more space or nah? I think I'm on 256kbs.

yes, flac takes up more space. it's a file type for archiving after all.

If you want music without losing fidelity the lowest you can go is (192CBR / v2 VBR @ LAME [which averages 190~]) The reason for this is that the average human cannot tell the difference between Lossless and 192cbr even with decent equipment. (audiophiles are the outlier)

Like AB said, FLAC is mainly intended for archival purposes, but I have enough free HD space to treat them like 128 mp3s

And yeah, the clue is in the name, really. FLAC: Free Lossless Audio Codec.
