Went on a weekend trip with the family and my dad lost his car keys, so now I'm just stuck in another state 😐

I wonder, what do you even do in this situation? Hotwiring wouldn't really work, since the immobiliser would stop you from going anywhere anyway.

My dad spent 500 dollars and got a new key fob made for his car.

Also my glasses broke too, so that's pretty nice.

500?! Holy shit.

The last time I had my glasses break was... seemingly randomly. They just split in two at the bridge for some reason.

Embedded Software Engineer for £30k/a

I guess it's more of a graduate salary, but I don't think they were after graduates specifically, so I just end up with the normal title.

Yeah no it's not that bad at all! With bonuses it comes to just under £35k, so 25k after taxes and pension stuff.

Just under 50 minutes off-peak. No idea what it'll be like during rush hour though, but I expect little over an hour. Might take some back roads or something.
I could find my own place somewhere closer, but I'd kinda rather save up a bit of money first, before losing nearly half my salary to renting a place. And I think it would be good to just have a bit of time to plan my finances out a bit first.

That's a rough commute, I hope you can find somewhere closer :c it sucks to lose so much money on rent but after a while it just sucks driving that much everyday.

My commute is gonna be 40 minutes but I'm carpooling so it won't be too bad, not nearly as bad as yours...

The first few weeks on the job are the toughest, so don't feel discouraged if you are completely clueless at times, that's totally normal! ^^

By the same token, don't be afraid to ask for help, even if it's a seemingly basic or trivial thing! They will pretty much expect those types of things to come up and hopefully they assign a specific person to help you out in the beginning.

If your company does code reviews, try to pay attention to what is happening in other people's code reviews, you can learn lots of stuff that will be applicable to you since you'll eventually have to submit something for review yourself.

Try to use existing, working pieces of code as a reference whenever possible; rarely will you ever need to start completely from scratch.

(Maybe I'll think of some others at a later time.)

I mowed my lawn yesterday and missed a giant patch of grass... But I'm too lazy to fix it >_<
