soldering is a pain

Whatcha soldering? I'm trying to finish my speaker crossovers, but Parts Express has all the remaining parts backordered into next month (ノ°益°)ノ

Soldering a through-hole mechanical keyboard. It's the Discipline 65 if you're interested!

Cool! I've thought about building one in the past, but I didn't have the soldering tools back then. What switches did you go with?

i wonder if there is a way to make Lewd.sx popular again. if you want to help join me in the new "Make Lewd popular again" thread if you got any ideas. and clickbait. i would really like your help.

Trying something new for my avatar~
Nice to see the forum so active again!

this thread is problematic & on the new software we will likely be more strict about closing off massive threads and starting them again from scratch. :>

I've noticed that this is also a thing with Discourse and Reddit

i cant wait till the new software is ready. i saw what it looked like and i believe with it Lewd will be active more. it would seem less of a thread and more of a community and lewd is a community i want to be apart.

and also another good idea to release the new lewd.sx version as a beta to test out. i would gladly volunteer to be a beta tester. sometimes its best to release a beta before releasing the whole thing blindly. releasing it blindly can cause shit to happen that could possibly ruin lewd which would be very terrible indeed.

I saw that snbforums had a notice up that said a similar thing. They are limiting threads to 500 posts after six months. If the new lewd.sx software is going to display all the replies on one page this makes sense.

I'm sure Clickbait has it under control. I've never worked with forum software, but I would imagine there is a way to backup current lewd and redeploy it if there is a catastrophic failure. There could also be issues with running the old and new software in parallel, in which case the only way to test would be in a temporary instance.

So can we chat about whatever here now as it's going to be deleted?

it should handle threads around the size of this one alright, but much bigger and it'd cause performance issues. essentially to make future posts quicker it loads all of the threads posts into an array, which can be slow af when dealing with thousands of posts.

i think closing them off when they get large is a minor inconvenience.

no it's not going to be deleted. it will be locked.

or loading times is something we might have to sacrifice if we want to see old forum posts

Just as long as it doesn't get deleted or anything! Digital memories are really important to me, and I haven't saved as much of this site as I really should...

Ahh, this brings back the days when I used to trawl the GameFAQs/Gamespot forums in middle school and see the various forum games people used to play. Oftentimes, you'd either have an OP or mod come in and grab the final post allowed in a thread for themselves, but occasionally you'd see a forum veteran reply with something like "I hereby close this thread". Good times, good times... ^~^

So what you're saying is we're limited on time and we should try to double the page count as quick as possible?

Ah man, GameFAQs used to be my jam back in the day! If you posted on the PC forum around 2009-2011 I probably saw it and I was always replying to the PC spec recommendation threads. I lurked a lot before and after that too. Good times...

What a terrible time to start getting invested in so many hobbies at once. I really did this to myself huh?

Terrible? Don't you have more free time now?

Looks like my car will be in need of a £600 repair >_<
