Your experience with real life weeaboos?

Posts

When I was a wee lad, and had no friends, I always hung out with my sister. Her and her best friend were textbook weaboos, and they made me pretend I was the faggot with the armor from Full Metal Alchemist because I was the youngest. I wanted to be Ed because they were both girls so I should be the boy, but my sister's friend insisted on being Ed because she loved Ed more than anyone else and I would never love him the way she does.

We later learned that my sister's friend was schizophrenic. Haven't seen her since... 2010?

I said it before on the Discord, but I'll say it again here: Giving my uni's Anime Club a second chance was the biggest mistake I've made this semester.

Literally all they did was play a shitty anime trivia game, all whilst hollering like baboons. Now don't get me wrong; I adore a crowd that doesn't give off the impression they're dead inside; but these guys were practically screaming the entire time.

Whats more, it was glaringly obvious that most of them hadn't bathed. Every time I walked up the aisle to answer one of the few questions I was knowledgeable about, I picked up approximately six distinctly displeasurable aromas, one of which damn near made me dry-heave.

All in all, the entire thing was a fucking joke. But, it did give me some valuable insight into why people dislike weebs: It's usually not the obsession with anime; hardly, in my case; rather, it's the incredible measure of tactlessness displayed by these weebs that nets them so much derision. They aren't hurting anyone of course, but they're unbelievably annoying, and IMO give "normal" weebs like us a bad name.

I know lots of people who watch anime all from diffrent social groups.

I've yet to personally encounter a weeaboo and I'd like to keep it that way. There's a few people I've met who were a bit eccentric with their enthusiasm for anime but no one that I'd classify as a weeb for one reason or another.

Unfortunately this means that the "normal" anime fans are never there to give the anime fandom, and thus anime a good name. On the other hand that's probably helped stop anime from becoming mainstream which i'm pretty OK about.

Not yet I haven't. I wouldn't mind it at all if I did though.

When I visited my family in Japan, I met 2 americans who spoke Japanese but they were 100% rude and didn't respect anybody while being there. They were also wearing some shit anime shirts that looked hella fake and worn out.

Today, I'm gonna do something stupid: Today, I'm gonna pay my once-a-semester visit to my university's Anime Club.

Let's see how it goes! 😃

O boi

I haven't seen a true weeaboo since the mid-2000's. They're too shamed at this point, and must commit sudoku.

I would trade the FilthyFrank fans to have them back any day.

Surprisingly, it was little to write home about! There were less than half a dozen guys there, all in ill-fitting clothes, and bearing the characteristic sheen of someone who hasn't bathed in days. The theme was "Black History Month", so we all came up with and voted on shows that had anything to do with "black", be it in the title or otherwise. Me, I suggested Afro Samurai and Darker than Black; threw in The Boondocks as a joke, but they thought I was serious...

Anyhoo, there wasn't anyone I knew there, and I really didn't wanna watch Black Lagoon. Eventually I decided to make like a tree and gtfo.

Well I did know this one guy, when I met him he had really short hair, his hygeine was on point and he liked a bit of anime. I think a few months later I saw him again and he had really long greasy ass hair, he got a bit chubbier and he said he's watched a lot of anime. I don't think he's necessarily a weeaboo but it's kind of hard to think something differently when you ignore your own hygiene and health to watch more anime.

At one point, this was actually me. I didn't want to admit it but I wasn't in the best state at the time. Luckily since then I've cleaned up a lot and I'm actually proud of myself for that.

Good job! :3 You should be proud of yourself, definitely.

Yeah I mean I was never at that point but a few years back the only thing I really did was watch anime and research Japanese culture. It was an escape from reality for me, but now I just consider it a hobby, anime isn't as much of an escape is it used to be for me.

Sa, one of the kids I mentor is seriously considering bringing his body pillow on a school trip. Having nearly taken mine to college, I consider it my duty to casually dissuade him.

Then again, we tend to have semi-weekly discussions on waifus and whether traps are gay, so perhaps I'm at fault here as well. ^^'

Right now, the dude's fancying Emilia from Re:Zero. Given the impressive amount of thought he's given to his arguments, I'm surprised it ain't Felix. :p

Most of the guys on the team regard him as a joke, though he's got a couple friends due to his leadership position. Me, I personally think he's one of the coolest kids I've ever met. The guy might be an ultra-weeb, but he's super-earnest about it, which give people no choice but to accept him for who he is.

I told him straight-up, he reminds me a lot of myself at that age; right down to the lewd wallpapers on his phone. Between teaching programming and alluding to anti-capitalist rhetoric, I daresay my interactions with him are the highlight of my time there. c:

Right now? Oh my, how disloyal~ Good for him though! I don't know how old he is, but there's no way I would've been so honest with myself in secondary school - always just trying to fit in.
