My SR for this season is 0
Because fuck playing ranked when I'm a support main.

Mercy main btw

Did you know her pistol does a surprising amount of damage?

I'm still chuffed from when I solokilled a roadhog and a half as Mercy

Fucking 'a.
I'm already in the clouds when I land a killing shot with Mercy, nevermind solokill anything.

Her pistol feels a lot like out of mech D.va's gun

Very true, though you have to be a bit more careful with aiming, since it has a much lower rate of fire than D.Va's pistol.

Ugh, this losing spree. I started at 2100 and now I'm at 1700. I keep losing ;A;

I would like to say that I know how you feel but I have just been hovering between 1600 and 1700 consistently. I don't play a lot of ranked though.

I'm always playing ranked, but I lose wayyyyy more than I win. Then right when I'm about to win, someone in my team dc's or something else happens and I lose again lol.

I am also a Mercy main.
But I refuse to play a system that punishes you for healing ty.

Did... something change recently? I usually main Mercy and I didn't really have any problems with it.

The system doesn't punish you. It works by comparing your performance, including amount of healing, to that of other Mercy's around your SR. That being said, it's easier to perform better at shooting stuff than to try and keep alive the whole team.

They recently adjusted it so that you get lower SR for healing because it's night impossible to get on-fire as a healer now.
Some games you can do a shitload of healing and only gain SR in the single digits for a win, whereas you can lose incredible amounts for a loss.
This is a been a problem on and off for a long time as they've made adjustments to healers or the SR system, but this is the first time they've done it intentionally.
The only way you can maintain your SR is if you stop doing your job as a healer and try do do damage.

See the below video for a more in-depth explanation:

Being on fire has nothing to do with SR gains though

It does. Being on fire is a part of the system to determine your performance within the match.

However, it does not give or take SR itself. To give or take SR, what the system does is compare your performance in the game to ALL the other players who played your heroes in a similar SR rating. That means you're being compared to people all over the world. If your performance is similar to theirs, the loss or gain is average. If you did poorly in comparison, you lose more and earn less. If you did much better than them, then you earn more SR and you lose less if you lost. That's why playing unpopular heroes gives you more SR; because there's less people playing them, and many people throwing or trolling with them, so the average performance is very low and if you do even decently with, say, Hanzo or Torb, you earn more SR than normal.

Then explain to me how after they reduced how much on-fire charge you get for healing to almost nothing SR gains for any healers dropped significantly to the point where if you don't stop healing and start dealing damage you're going to gain almost nothing and lose significantly more than you did previously?

If what you are claiming is how the SR system works, then the only plausible explanation is that it's using the data from before the on-fire change for the comparison as well. Meaning that anyone playing a healer currently is bad in comparison to the healers from before the change.

No, that is most likely a bug with a single hero (Mercy) that the development team's already trying to solve. But I get the same SR as Zen or Lucio that I do as Junk, one of my mains, so I'd say not every support hero is affected, probably only Mercy.

As a matter of fact it's not. This change affects all healers, and has done since they made the change.
Zen is capable of dealing damage whilst still healing, so he's one of the few healers capable of sustaining it.
Take 10 minutes to watch the video I posted and you'll understand what I mean.

This is the source of the info I'm trying to explain, the video should do a better job than me.

That's the same person that did the video I posted so I guess I was using outdated information.
My apologies.

wait no, it's not the same person, but it does directly address the issues outlined in the video I posted, so either way end of discussion.
