I didn't notice this with Akame Ga Kill... Mine was the only one who truly loved Tatsumi, Make-up Chick Just had a crush, possibly out of resentment for Mine. Leone was just flirting with him..... to piss off Mine.

I mean, Akame ga Kill in it's entirety was just a travesty of writing, at least in the animuu.

Mine liked Tatsumi because... Raisins.
Chelsea liked Tatsumi because she just liked him, no mention of Mine in her monologue so that's doubtful.
Leone flirted with him before he joined Night Raid, so again, doubtful.
Plus, can anyone explain to me why the fuck Esdeath wanted to nail him? And her conflicting as fuck desire with her built character?
Also, didn't the gay dude want in on him too?

How did I forget about Esdeath? I really liked her. I still think Leone was just kind of a slut. The gay dude .... it was mildly implied, but yeah. Still, I'm one of the people you mentioned not being able to stand cause I really liked Akame Ga Kill. I especially liked the way it ended because it was a realistic way that such a conflict could have turned out in real life.

For the record... i HATED Akame. ZERO character growth, episode to episode personality shifts (for what littler personality they gave her), she was just a mess.

I really tried to give Akame ga Kill a chance, but holy shit it was bad. I kept getting "I wanna be liek Claymore!" vibes.

I'm just a very harsh critic and put massive importance on story and anyone who tells me the story was nice is wrong.
It may be your opinion, but your opinion is wrong. If your anime makes me roll my eyes when I'm alone in my room more than twice an episode throughout the ENTIRE SERIES, then there's a problem. A big one. One I didn't even know existed.

Akame was the possible worst of the bunch, even the fans of the show apparently hated her. Hence the meme-ship AkamexMeat, I think.

Honestly, I would say yes, but that'd require me to rewatch the whole thing since I can't risk misinformation if I review something.

And FUCK. THAT. NOISE.

As much as I liked it, I wouldn't sit through 24 episodes again when I have a backlog of stuff i haven't seen.

but since you won't watch it again.... maybe you just forgot you liked it...

jk, im just being a bulli

Hate:

-forced romance
-endless fanservice
-giant swords
-harems
-filler episodes
-unrealistic proportions

Like:

-good ambiguous endings (rare from what I've seen)
-humor, as long as the joke isn't repeated
-spookums
-good use of color, not having all of a scene look the same

3 years later

I seen around 1200 of these things for the last 11 years so let me list

I like:

Antiheroes for the sake of changing the world (think thats just Code Geass)
Fun out of character moments but only if its OVAs like Ep 4.5 of AngelBeats
Villians only if they have a purpose like were wronged in the past not just to be evil or over pity things
The MC not being a bitch
Fanservice as long as isn't the "polt"
Breaking the 4th wall
Protagonist is funny

My like list is pretty basic

Now hate

I hate when the protagonist has no confidence/ a bitch (My Hero Alcadimia/Black Clover (these 2 are basacially the same story both MCs have no powers in a world all have powers and they are magically given one))
Overly used fanservice ploys like zoom ins
Power levels (Are we to beilieve everytime they beat a big foe there is magically another hundreas of times stronger)
The OP MCs (See SAO) (There is like no need to worry about what happens to them killing character development from our side)
The shameless pervertedness
The protagonist winning from no where. New power they never had, draws a card that changes the duel, etc
Antagonists monologuing that causes their demise for wasting time
Perverted old men (Give the cliche a break for at least 5 years)

A few repeats from the thread

Hate:

-Shows that adapt a manga, light novel, visual novel, etc. and try to cram way too much into way too short of a time. Some trimming is inevitable, but some shows try to adapt things that have such complicated plots that they're rendered near-incomprehensible. The worst case was Occultic;Nine. That show had everything going for it, but its pacing reduced it to a nonsensical stream of noise where you can barely tell what's going on, and not in a good way. Chaos;Head was pretty bad too. Steins;Gate had similar problems but wasn't as bad since it had more episodes to work with.

-Anime that goes on for too long with bullshit. This is why I can't get into most shounen shows, though I do like Dragon Ball even though it's a bad offender in this regard. Hunter X Hunter is another one that I love, but that's because I think even though it's long, it never felt like it was just going on for the sake of it.

-Pointless drama or plotting. See Little Witch Academia: that show was strongest when it was acting like the old Cartoon Network shows it's clearly inspired by and having a bunch of singular, self-contained episodes with no/minimal over-arching plot, but gets bogged down in a drama story near the end. A lot of slice-of-life shows do this too.

-Tsundere characters that are so excessively cruel and bitchy that it's improbable that anyone else would take them seriously and not think they're psychotic. Normal tsundere is fine and in fact desirable.

-Cute girls who turn out to be boys. Then again I think this is supposed to piss me off. Sometimes it has some good humor behind it.

Love:

-Excessive fanservice, nudity, and ecchi content. Unlike most others I think it rarely, if ever, detracts from a series.

-Unique art styles, as long as they still look enough like anime characters to be cute.

-Anime made by otakus for otakus that doesn't even try to make concessions for normalfags.

-Characters that are both unique AND based on classic tropes (tsundere, dandere, yamato nadeshiko, ojou-sama, etc.)

-Almost everything else.

Hate:

-Mr. Generic Anime Man and his generic tsundere love interest.

-Tasteless or lazy fanservice; SHAFT know how to do it right.

-When you can see the stretch marks on the plot from it being forced to span a fixed 12 episodes or so.

->It's a revenge story

-Offensively bad or jarring CG; I understand it's for economical reasons but there are limits to what looks acceptable.

-It's an adventure but the plot is non-existant.

-2deep4you

->It's a filler episode

-"We're not so different, you and I."

Like:

-Weird, off the beaten path visuals or art style that distinguish it from the generic anime.

-Appealing character designs.

-I don't find myself waiting for each episode to end.

-The story manages to be weird without being incomprehensible or pretentious.

-It's fun.

-GOAT tier animation

-Good OP/EDs aren't necessary but they are a nice bonus.

-I feel like I got something out of it.

There's a number of tropes in shounen I think I'd dislike but I haven't actually watched any so I didn't put them here.

My loved anime traits

  • Well developed shows that knows the opening and ending points, without going over-the-top all over the place
  • Strong, appealing characters that acknowledges its strengths and weaknesses
  • Outstanding music soundtracks that is not overly catchy but easily remembered
  • Dialogue between the characters and narrative that fits in with the story
  • A good mix of both genders included
  • Good shipping routes

My liked anime traits

  • Battles that don't last longer than half the entire episode, and no battle can start too soon after the last one
  • High-quality images with consistent FPS, as long as it is not under 30 or above 120
  • A healthy amount of romance that doesn't span through more than half of an entire show
  • Diversity in conversations
  • Short monologues
  • Awkward moments that cause a good laugh for a while

My disliked anime traits

  • Excessive gore, whole screen turns red or black too frequently and suddenly, fancy visuals that can blind the viewer easily, hard to see characters through saturated or darkened backgrounds
  • Shows that don't have a proper path on where it is supposed to go next (inconsistency), or just made to tick off more of their own audience than it supposedly wants to achieve
  • Cameo characters that don't fit with the time period of the anime
  • Generic looks or visuals that is choppy/messed up
  • One-sided romances where one character is always dominant and the other always submissive
  • Frequent fourth-wall breaking

    My hated anime traits
  • Unexpected mature scenes in non-mature shows
  • Characters that frequently dislike one another without reason
  • Bad shipping routes for no reason
  • Bad endings
  • Long monologues or meaningless stuff
  • Resurrection of characters that died too frequently only to come back in the next scene/episode/season
  • Battle after battle the characters have to go through without stopping to take a break
  • Stereotypes that don't break
  • Includes highly controversial themes that are so offensive it attracts a lot of negative reactions
  • One-sided gender or species that is too powerful over the other
  • Overpowered attacks
