There's no real order to these:

  1. Fallout 3
  2. Earthbound
  3. Smash Bros. Melee
  4. Chibi Robo
  5. Wind Waker

I've yet to play Undertale. Is it as amazing as everyone says?

Don't set your expectations too high, not everyone likes it. But if you liked Earthbound, you'll most likely enjoy Undertale. Don't expect it to live up to Earthbound and you'll be good.
I've been tricking you into lowering your expectations. But it turns out this was all a ruse so you'd enjoy the game more! It is my favorite game, after all, so I don't really have such a mild opinion of it. Do keep in mind, though, that I haven't played Earthbound. Anyhow, it's the shit, go get it now.
Also, avoid spoilers at all costs. This is particularly important for Undertale.

Hours upon hours of space dogfighting, powered by perhaps the single most dedicated modding community in history. Notable fan projects include thousands of new ships and over a hundred campaigns (some of them with full voice acting!), and several total conversion mods for everything ranging from Star Wars to Wing Commander.

All of that, for ten bucks on GOG. Seriously, what's not to love?

Fallout: New Vegas probably takes the cake for the game that I enjoyed playing the most. I went hard enough into it that I managed to completely burn myself out of it after two playthroughs. It was my first Fallout game and I kinda just barreled past all the tutorials and info sections. As a result up until about the mid-game I really had no idea at all what I was doing which led to a number of silly mishaps. Good times.

Persona 3 FES is probably my favorite game ever. Shenmue 2 and Pokemon Soul Silver are close though.

Here's an eclectic top five, trying to reflect all the styles I'm in to (but not all ones I'm talented at or well-versed in). Also not counting VNs because that's something a bit different:

Arcana Heart: All are great, but 3 is the best. Fighters are probably my favorite genre and this is my favorite of them. The massive amount of combos of character + arcana moves makes it even more fresh for replays than most fighting games.
Kid Chameleon: My favorite platformer. Beating this was probably the proudest I've ever been. I see this as taking a lot from prior platforming franchises but besting them all.
Yume Nikki: Playing through .flow right now, and it's great, but the original is still the best. I got most of the effects on my own, but the paper triangle was so obscure I don't see how anyone could find that without help.
Kantai Collection: I can see how most people would hate this game even if they love the girls but it's fun to poke around at a bit every day. Hiyou is best underrated girl, Atago and Tenryuu are best entry-level picks.
Sid Meier's Civilization V: I suck at this actually. But any historian will find it stimulating. Though I think being a historian can actually backfire as you'll get too into the historical roleplay as opposed to the strategy.

Vidya is a new hobby to me. I never played as a kid outside of Homestar Runner flash games (there are people these days who are too young to remember that site! how sad for them).

  • Diablo 1
  • StarCraft: Brood War
  • Star Wars Galaxies
  • Duke Nukem 3D
  • Rise of the Triad (the original)
  • Dwarf Fortress
  • Septerra Core
  • Jet Set Radio Future
  • Cities: Skylines
  • Stellaris
  • Shadow of Mordor

There are many others, but that is my mix of "all-time" and "recent" favourites~

Guess if I had to pick 3?

  1. Neverwinter Nights

  2. Smite

  3. Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition

Reasons:

Neverwinter Nights
I played this game a lot during my childhood and thus it will always have a special place in my heart.
It remains one of my most played games, and for me it has an incredibly high level of replayability.
Plus you can make your own levels for the game or download ones made by other users.

Smite
I play this game almost religiously. I consider myself pretty good at the game and enjoy it for the mechanics and reaction-based gameplay. I have sunk and inordinate amount of time and money into this game and I don't think I could let it go if I tried.
Super fun if you can get past the plague of garbage randoms as are ever present in any MOBA and find some people to play with.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition
This is the game that taught me to have endless patience with anything. It's a wonderful game and I love the intricacies of the combat mechanics. The lack of obvious plot is highly appealing to me as well. I love the way the story is told, and look forward to more games using a similar method of storytelling.
I have played the other two games a fair bit but they don't top this one in my humble opinion.

Oh my goodness I spent eight years building a world and community for Neverwinter Nights! It was one of the best things I think I have ever done.

Man I spend loads of time in the editor for the game. Used to make cool-ass equipment to import through to the main campaign.
Started with just giving myself OP equipment but after a while I got bored of doing that and started putting some time and effort into making it look and feel awesome. I'd usually spend ages coming up with a whole persona and biography for each of my individual characters too.

Man I love that game. Glad to see I'm not the only one!

video games are my life and i didn't even post in this thread yet

kotor 1/2
dragons dogma
max payne 1/2
and most recently, nier automata.
dark souls and the witcher 3 get honorable mentions though!

how do I git good

  • Keep playing through the cancer.

  • Find people to play with that are less cancer.

  • NEVER solo queue on EU. Every random is shit except in very few cases.

  • Seriously if you have to deal with 120 ping on NA then do it. It'll be better for everyone.

  • Add me and PM me if you see me online, I'm more than willing to play with you. My username is Druanaé

Too many to count for me, but that is okay. I play like a pro from the beginning since I was a kid, but so far, I'm nowhere near as best in terms of luck.
