[Death Note] If you could change the ending...

If you could change the ending of Death Note, what would it be? The end is already good for an anime like that since Light turns villainous, but I found the ending a feeling of 'incompleteness' in me. Its not like I wanted Light to live-- he got what he did but the show starts going downhill L's death. Its not because I like L or anything, but all the remaining characters seem to be hollow as hell after L's death, and no proper character was introduced to take L's place.

Mellow and Near were almost unneccesary. If Light and L were to die anyway, there could have been a scenario where they kill each other, etc. Near is completely annoying though and takes the fun off from the detective side. He figures most of the about Light with only speculation which makes it incredibly boring. L was a better detective than Near, and was fun to watch. His deductions were sometimes wrong but that's what the evidence was pointing to. L had clues and he figured stuff step-by-step. I hate how Near just solved everything without clues like a psychic--useless character.

I would make it so that in the end, everyone dies, and then we get a season 2 which involves the life-note, which can bring people back to life, and then we throw in another one of L's random disciples who brings him back to life, then goes bat shit insane and brings light back to life, and everyone dies again. Just continue the cycle until it ends up like When they cry and after 3 seasons of this, we find out that this was all a dream set up by Light, and he was in a coma for the entire time because he got hit a truck in the first episode.

I know right. Near is the only character in Death Note that has managed to piss me off.

I would probably let Light go insane, he'll run away and start killing off a lot of innocent people who aren't even involved, saying that they are "evil" while L watches him and eventually captures him. Light would continue to rant his "I'm gonna become God" stuff, and L would finish him off. The end <3

well, I am fine with the current ending even though most of the people out there, wanted to change that.

For me it got to a point that L became the only reason I watched Death Note, however when he died I just stopped watching and it took me a while to pick it back up. I would've like it better if they both died at the same time like @[deleted] mentioned, but I just felt like they had replaced L with bad replicas. When I first started watching I thought Misa was the most annoying character, but that quickly change when Near was introduced.
