Pretty sure its a Moderator only thing. I could be mistaken though. Perhaps its even a level thing.
[support] How do some groups have sparkly colors?
Posts
Neither. I think it based on the hex or code given before creation. I know most board do such like this. Though if it's based on a user's power, either this should be given to an active group based on a sole administrator reward to said group of let us edit them when we created them.
It's a feature hardcoded into the site. Hence, it's not really available only to moderators, but rather the admins and those who ask for it. Since it's a css-related option, it can also easily be achieved using Stylish plugin.
All it really is is a gif running in the background. No more, no less. Regarding your other question, Eurobeat group has separate text and group banner colors. And there are plenty more effects - anything you can do with text in css, can be done to the group, or you can simply find/make a gif with transparent background like the sparkles. Not saying it will be implemented, since it relies on senpai, but you might as well try asking.

I think having rewards for having an active/hq group would be a good idea since it promotes activity of the site and we have a lot of dead groups atm which sucks.

I think one of the main reasons for this is the current layout of the forum. Group
forums are hidden away in a second tab that isn't very noticable, so the only other
way you can see these posts is through the Latest Posts section at the bottom of
the forum (which doesn't show very much) or via the Unread Posts button. (which
a lot of users don't even notice)If we just reorganized the group forums to be more visible, (maybe shown together
with the main forums?) then group posts would get a lot more attention. Also, there
are quite a few groups with tedious steps of submitting custom applications, which
in my opinion is really just a deterrent againt users that will push away the already
small number of members who might have joined. The group system is already too messy
and confusing as it is after you've finally joined a group. If you have to submit
a fucking resume just to get in, then your group better have some top-tier perks.
(like an exclusive porn stash that's too lewd for Lewd General, or something else
that no other group has)
New forum theme doesn't have tabs, so hopefully that helps. I personally found it easier to check on groups with the new theme.

I've gotta say, I really don't like this setup at all. It's not that difficult to
reach out to a mod, but this shouldn't be something that requires moderator action
on a case-by-case basis. The reason groups exist isn't just for organizing all the
off-topics that wouldn't fit into the main forum; it's also to grant some power
to the group owner. The group owner gets to decide new rules that can be applied
within their own group (while still abiding by the Lewd.sx rules of course) and
they even get complete control over who may enter the group. (or who gets banned
from the group) It's almost like being a mod, but on a smaller scale. My point with this is that the entire process of creating and customizing your group
should be something that the group owner is able to do independently. If we have
secret forum features available only by mod request, and that becomes public knowledge,
then every time a new group gets made we'll just add more to the mod work load with
such requests. It just makes way more sense to take this out of the mod's hands
and into the user's.As it is now, we've basically got a treasure vault of pretty features, but we lack
the functions necessary to actually use them.
I disagree on giving certain things to users. Being able to mix-match colors, and sparkly usernames and stars are things I feel should not be given out willy nilly. Otherwise they'll hold zero value. Someone above suggested these types of things be given to groups which hold an active userbase, and I like that idea. Some groups are created for the sole purpose of looking pretty, and having a cool userbar, without having that active of a group. But, I think sparklies and mixed colors should be offered as customization options for groups who are active, as a way to set them apart, and to promote the healthy activity the group is receiving.
basically there was only meant to be one group with the sparkles, then rii for some reason made another group with sparkles, then made a group and wanted sparkles.
what i wanna do is award active (and high quality - as determined by me) groups with sparkles.

I am personally particularly upset that group leaders don't have a way to moderate their own subforum. Giving at least the group owner power over their subforum would take a lot of potential work out of forum staff's hands since they don't have to help with group subforums anywhere near as often.
I asked you to do something about this before, @Senpai, but I don't remember what your response was. I'll ask again. Please allow group owners to moderate their subforums.
the current system mybb has setup for letting people moderate specific subforums is dumb, i need to put some time into making something that isn't a nightmare to maintain.
