Log Horizon Author under house arrest for tax evasion charges

Well that escalated fast:

The special investigation department of the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Tokyo placed Umezu Daisuke — the real name of author Mamare Touno — under house arrest due to alleged tax evasion on Thursday. His rights management company m2ladeJAM is accused of not paying about 30 million yen (about US$250,000) in taxes. The author of Log Horizon and MAOYU was charged in April with tax evasion and violation of the Corporate Tax Law for allegedly neglecting to file about 122 million yen (US$1 million) in royalties in the three years since the fiscal year ending in March 2014.

Let's see what will happen hopefully he didn't violate anything and can continue making animes 😃
If he did well he will have to ether pay a huge fine or go to jail I guess.

Wow!!! That's crazy!  Oh my goodness $250,000 is a lot of money in taxes... I can't even imagine how much he actually made in profit if his tax owed really is that much.  I think it's important for business people to really understand the laws and abide by them.  It's a shame that no one advised him of this financial matter.  I don't know how it all works in Japan however I do know that here in the states most rich people simply spend their time/money donating to charities to help write-off their taxes.
