Figured it'd be a good idea to write up about Eternal.is.

What is Eternal?
Eternal is a general forum, meaning it's a forum that's not focused on one topic. I made it after joining a few different general forums and seeing them either get sold to a bad new owner, turn into cancer, or completely die.

The name was chosen based on the idea that the forum won't die.

What about Lewd?
The way I run Lewd won't be changed in the slightest; Eternal is merely another avenue for me to meet more great people, without the limitations that come from running a forum with a strong focus on nsfw content (which also has its benefits).

I don't intend on letting Lewd die while Eternal grows, and will be shilling Lewd on Eternal.

Why are you telling us?
I think the members from Lewd are the perfect community to shape the foundations of Eternal, as there's no shortage of wonderful people here.

I hope to see some of you there, but don't feel obliged to sign up if you're not interested!

Anything else?
@"Ayu" is an administrator over at Eternal, and will be helping out with a lot of the front-end development.

Here it is if you're interested. 🙂

I dunno, I think I'll stay here for the time being. It's not like the focus on NSFW content is really that huge over here, and the forum categories seem to be mostly the same. It's a nice idea for meeting those not as interested in anime related stuff though!

I suppose we could see where it goes, though personally I'm extremely wary about this sudden development. Communities thrive on centralization, and creating a separate one, even if meant to work in tandem with the first, can only lend itself to a fragmented userbase. As the Native Americans once observed: "If you chase two rabbits, you will lose them both."

I personally enjoy general forums more. Mostly because you can meet lots of different people.
Without one big niche, you have many more types of members. Kinda fun imo.

Yeah, I tend to prefer more tight-knit communities. General communities are great and all, but inevitably I will just end up spending most of my time talking to others with similar interests, whist remaining a stranger to the other 90% of the community :/

From what I can tell (as a very new member) you have done an excellent job at managing this community.

I would say that from my experience of other communities, even when the purpose is made obsolete or the users become disinterested, a community does not thrive based on a purpose, but based on people. And this community seems to thrive because of the people who are a part of it, rather than because it is made for NSFW content (which personally, wasn't really a factor in me signing up.

I do like the idea of a well designed general forum, but I've only just joined this community, and as I like to get stuck into places, two new forums at once is one too many for me 😉

I'm enjoying Eternal.is, it's a nice opportunity for the many online friends I have that aren't really interested in anime to interact with the nice people here that do.

I can understand that some people here might be worried that the new forum will take attention from Lewd, but in the end I can see both continuing to grow.

It sounds interesting. I'm not sure why I'd never heard of a general forum before, but I like the idea somewhat.

Seeing how I've barely been able to stay as an active member of this community, I don't think I'll joing Eternal.is - I'd rather try to focus on having an online presence in one place. "Narrow and deep instead of wide and shallow", is that what they call it?

Anyhow, regardless of that tangent, the point is I think it's a cool idea I won't be a part of for the time being.

I still can't figure out how to manually change my password while logged in on this yet, or make new threads on Meta... I only managed to log in by a randomized reset while logged out.

Yeah, the theme's pretty unfinished and missing a lot of functionality, something I plan on fixing really soon!
