So it seems the Polish government just tried to stage a coup against the Constitutional Tribunal.

darpo Don't really know the specifics myself, as I don't tend to follow Polish politics all that much, but from what I understand, the current government got tired of the president vetoing their Judge appointments, so decided to overrun and takeover the building with riot cops while the president was on a diplomatic flight to Senegal.
The government got tired of the president? Diplomatic flight to Senegal? what da hell

Government and President are two seperately elected entities (I think it's kinda similar to the US). And currently they occupy pretty opposing political stances. Essentially, the president has the power to veto pretty much anything the government wants to do, and currently often does so because he often doesn't like what the government's trying to do.
Yeah idk why Senegal - gotta maintain diplomatic relations all over the place, I guess.
Europeans and their peculiar ways...
Unrelated, but I was talking with friends the other day about how if you went to jail in 2011 and were released in 2026 you might think everyone suddenly developed brain damage. Like, imagine you and your friends are sharing photographs of nature and stuff on Instagram. And then when you get out of jail those same guys you knew are now sharing Charlie Kirk and George Droid hyperborea memes.
