Random thoughts thread

Eyy, throwback to when kids in my high school thought telling someone "you dropped your pocket" was the funniest thing ever. People can be fascinating sometimes.

Aww, shucks, there goes my failed three preliminary plans for my anime invasion storyline after a small technical mishap messing up all the character models as either transparent white or messed up colors of multiple skins while I was almost done getting the female peds all replaced with anime characters. It even went as far as messing up the rendering of the map textures if I happen to recruit more than three GSF members in-game. I have no fear, though. I might be able to bring back GTA:SA to normal by getting rid of CLEO 4.3, IMGEditor, PEDEditor, all the unnnecessary junk, and the skins I sought very hard to get it included. Despite the bold attempt I made to bring back the original peds and their textures by replacing the anime replacements one by one in A-Z order, which took me a couple hours, I would not be able to see improvement. Because the game requires all models and textures, etc. to undergo a thorough load check to ensure it contains no errors when loading or saving a save file, about halfway through the process, if it detects anything that isn't normal, it cancels out, bringing the user back to desktop that it doesn't want to start at all.

This is actually a common mistake experienced by most beginner modders of the GTA series likely due to careless handling of original files without backups. Because if there are no backups in case the game corrupts, then the game won't start and the ONLY way to bring back the game in its normal state as stated by many experienced modder creators is a full, clean uninstall and reinstall. Luckily, thanks to the power of the Internet in my hands, I will try to see if I can sort it out, though I make no guarantees such a tactic would work. shrugs Once I get the game back up and running again, I'll have to start the entire thing over, play until 100% completion like before, and save it.

Don't worry about me, I can handle this myself just this once. 🙂

I've always found modding GTA games to be quite painful >.< especially if you wanna replace a lot of vehicle models.

I didn’t touch the vehicle models; I touched only the ped models whilst leaving everything else untouched. My computer was up to date the week before I started modding just to be safe. However, I noticed some of the mods I sought after when attempting to download redirect me somewhere that is unsafe, but not dangerous enough to trigger an alert message tab, though it would ask me to confirm I'm not a bot, disable my ad-block, or entering the password set by the creator of the mod before allowing to use them.

Other mods on the other hand such as Reina Izumi turn out to be executable files in disguise or even worse like the K-ON skinpack and its remake version auto-trigger the alert tab only if the download process starts. It used to be OK to have K-ON characters running around causing mayhem as seen in some earlier videos, but nowadays, it isn't. Some character links might have been dead for some time since it is a very old game and thus can never be downloaded for various reasons. Since this is a very old game I'm trying to mod, only the 1.0 version that I have is guaranteed to have mods in them, any other version especially Steam 3.0 would require a downgrade.

I even watched some videos of a few particular skins I never even seen before, so it could indicate they are only found through cloud storage drives like OneDrive or the mod creator's blogs by sheer luck. My biggest mistake was not backing up enough of the game files, which is always the recommended thing to do when I started modding even if I don't want to mess with other stuff like vehicles you mentioned, and yes it is very painful but only if I don't follow the steps correctly on any given mod. For now, I'll have to do a reinstall in hopes I get it to work again when I have time.

Edit: Ta-da! I finally got it fixed thanks to two people who know how to properly uninstall and install properly without having to go through all the messy re-registration process again. It even still remembers my unmodded save file prior to my modding, which is nice. 🙂

Only if one's a TERF, I reckon.

Nobody likes a goddamn TERF.

Except for other TERFs and people who find their antics amusing.

You'd be shocked at the amount of people still clinging to GamerGate to this day. We're coming up on the fifth anniversary but some people just can't move on from it.

Woah that did shock me. People need to learn to move on and let go of stupid shit

The smell of rain is always so refreshing.

Time for the next test day.

That was basically me all of last week. At least it's over.

Yup. Just thought about the past like 7 years of my life and I noticed a trend. It's not like I'm harming anyone or being mean with my actions, they're harmless but the end result is always advantageous in my favor or I get rewarded in some way for them.

Maybe that's just because you're actually a good person, and therefore others are more likely to give something in return?

Maybe. I'm not a psychiatrist or therapist so perhaps that is it, but a lot of it feels like I knew how things would work out if I just did X and Y. And that feels manipulative to me, but maybe I'm wrong? idk.
