Dead Fucked

Was playing Dead Space, finished the Zealot mode (second hardest difficulty in the game), figure I'd try for hard core.

Run down of hardcore mode:
Minimum amounts of health and ammo, if you die you can only restart from your last save, there are no check points. Can only save three times, and enemies do damage that will brutalize you.

Playing Dead Space on hardcore
Get to chapter 2, already got a good run, good weapons, etc.
Being ambushed
Mouse and keyboard stop responding and won't work
I die

The sad is real.

Is Dead Space scary, by the way? I could see it being fun and enjoyable, but I can't see it on being as scary as games where you can literally not fight back, like Outlast and Amnesia.

It's a horror-survival game, and you fight off the necromorphs to make it out alive. It's my all time favorite game, and has been for a few years now. There are also a lot of jump scares as well, so proceed with caution.

Jump-scares can catch you off guard, but I think it's the atmosphere of a game that really drives the horror home.

Well, 9 times out of 10 you will find yourself in a bloodied room with locations for necros to be at and around waiting for you. The sound effects can be creepy as fuck too.
