Opinions on Trump and his "ideals".

He's a racist, xenophobe and sexist.

He has a point in wanting to make illegal immigrants to leave the country and reenter through legal channels but he's not doing it the right way, the hispanic community in the US is over 40 million people and he won't be able to make them leave, besides, all of them pay taxes, work in things the "normal" US citizen won't do and buy from american stores.. many businesses may close and government will receive less income.

But i guess he won't change his point of view, that's why he gained so much attention in the past months. I'm sure the hispanic community will vote against the republicans (again).

I thought New Zealand's healthcare system was a little fucked, so I think that counts.

I've always been really doubtful that Trump actually has any real platforms or leanings since the get go. Seems like he just figured out really early on that if he constantly spouts inflammatory dialogue he'll get free media coverage all the time and not have to actually advertise himself, a strategy that worked out quite nicely for him during the primaries but has easily done more harm than good for the election proper. Though now that he's gone nuclear it's less and less improbable everyday that his campaign will have completely melted down before November 8th. I just want this shitty election to be over already, I don't even care who wins anymore.

In my opinion, I agree with Donald Trump, we're so diverse that it is actually starting to destroy our country. I don't have a problem with other countries, I just don't think we should be so open. Donald Trump, I believe, can actually pull us from this fucking sinkhole that we're in financially, because we're always going over our budget and because of that, other countries are starting to hate us even more because they believe that we think we can do that because we're the United States of America. I know english is "global" but this reject comes from this way of thinking of yours.

Literally no one thinks that. Anyone who does hasn't taken even a highschool class in economics and ought to be barred from even debating politics. Sadly, we don't live in a perfect world.

And, frankly, I'm just a little bit irked by the insinuation that us Merifats don't bother learning other languages. Most importantly, we never get the chance to practice: Non-English online spaces are comparatively rare, and unlike people in Britain, we can't just take a merry stroll across the channel to experience a completely different culture. Aside from near the Mexican border and a few special cases (French near Quebec and in New Orleans, some remote pockets of indigenous languages) most Americans have very little incentive to learn another tongue.

This even applies to people who are already fluent a second language, just as I did when I was a kid. After I started attending preschool, I got less and less exposure to said tongue, which eventually allowed me to completely forget it. This also nearly happened to my Japanese and Russian friends, so it's certainly not an isolated case.

I will agree, though: Our school systems could stand to offer a larger emphasis on foreign language. As for my part, I'm currently learning Japanese and study it every day; and hope to relearn French sometime down the line too.

I dealt with US citizens a lot back in the days and no one ever tried to say a fucking word in spanish when they were here (Paraguay). Not even the well-known "gracias" or "por favor", i don't want to put everyone in the same bag but i'd say that most of them never gave 2 fucks about it... not to mention famous people (i.e a popular band comes here). 

There are lots of famous "online" sites for spanish and italian (languages i speak fluently) for example meristation (a very old videogames site compared to IGN) and obviously IGN Italia.

edit: I'm curious about the lack of incentive for learning other tongues. Please expand that matter :3

Spanish is actually a required language to learn in the majority of companies here in the United States. The reason? We actually have to grow accustomed to how many people entering this country that only speak Spanish, instead of them learning our language, we have to learn theirs, even though it's not their country. Do you see my point here? And how many of those Americans are actually STAYING there and seeking refuge? We're not going to stay there for an extended period of time so why learn the language? Unlike people who come into the United States that are actually seeking refuge and looking to stay for the rest of their life but refuse to learn our language. See what I mean?

Edit: Regarding markets and economy, I totally agree with you. China is the fucking backbone of our country, we get everything from there. Everything. And the reason why (I hope is the reason) Donald Trump wants to get away from China is so that we won't have to depend on them anymore, he wants everything to be made here, and so do I. It's not that I'm racist or xenophobic, it's just that I think it's time we stopped relying on other countries as much as we are because if China says "We're done making deals" our whole country is fucked up the ass inside and out.

Think for a second: Do you think people actually "seek" shelter in the US? they only want to go there because things are fucked up in their countries like, do you ever choose to leave your family and your homeland, friends, culture for an unknown, cold land? i mean you are mixing 2 different situations, i'm sure that at least 80% of people didn't even want to go to the US in the first place, they just go following the dream of helping their families to have a better life quality (aka money, in this dirty world) but anyways, i totally agree that when you go to another country "seeking" shelter you just at least learn their shit and live by the rules, i agree that illegal immigrants should be deported immediately.

True, I might have been a little bit too radical about them only seeking shelter to the US. There are some people who specifically choose this country for god knows what reason. But for Mexicans, I guess it's just the closest and most accessible shelter from their own country, but even those people don't want to learn anything about here. They want to treat it like their own country, and that's the part I don't like.
