Halo 5: Forge

Anyone been playing this as of late? For those who don't know, it's pretty much a full-fledged PC version of Halo 5's "Forge" map editor, with support for custom games. And the best part? It's available for the low, low price of free*.

*Free, as long as you have a copy of Windows 10. And a PC capable of keeping up with an XBone, of course.

I'm always on the lookout for good free vidya, and Halo has always been a series I've held dear as a gamer. It doesn't have all the features of the genuine article; Warzone is missing, and there's no campaign or cross-platform play. But it is the closest thing we've got to a modern Halo game on PC. And damn, is it good. If you're one of the, like, ten percent of people who actually own W10, you should totes check it out. :3

Dude, you couldn't even imagine some of the stuff you're capable of now.

For starters, there's tons of really small geometry pieces that let you create extremely intricate and detailed environments. Like, for example, the iconic corridor of the Tantive IV.

There's also something called "vehicle welding" that lets you attach geometry to ordinary vehicles, which has made for some phenomenally droll creations.

There's even scripting! Which is kinda okay, I guess. I mean, all it does is allow you to play the last level of Halo 3, get eaten by a whale, solve a mystery, play a board game, do simple arithmetic, or move the goddamn payload. Trivial stuff, really. ;3

'Course, only bummer is the PC servers people make aren't all that populated, and it's usually just CTF or Slayer on stock maps, or remakes of Blood Gulch or Valhalla or Sandtrap (though these remakes are incredible in and of themselves), so the only way you're guaranteed to have a full lobby is if you own an XBone, proper.
