Anime and right-wing politics? That's cool I guess, must be like /pol/ or someth-

"Autism doesn't exist. What you call an autist is a crystal child."
"They are mostly born into the Gold Ray of Incarnation and Evolution, which means they have access to gifts of clairvoyance and healing."
"The first thing you will recognize about Crystal children is their forgiving nature. They are very sensitive, warm, and caring. Don’t mistake these characteristics as a sign of weakness as Crystal children are also very powerful."
Head to the comments

"Hey, is this post just a joke? Because I want to form a community of others who think like this."
"My pineal sees all and causes blackouts with my AT-fields. These children are real and have been around since the 60s. PSYKERS are the future."

Mother of god. They're serious.

Just gonna leave that there.

I don't understand how you can be an anime fan and be right wing, though, they seem more or less incompatible.
Protectionism vs importing, etc etc.

I am fiscally conservative, a bit spread out on social issues but most would consider me quite far out on the right end, that being said, the only aspect that really makes anime less compatible with the general notion of what conservatism is about, is that it often goes against sexual conservatism (homosexuality, transsexualism in varying degrees, etc.) in my eyes. However sexual conservatism is heavily tied with Evangelical Christianity which is essentially a North American thing, however, the sure are many Abrahamic religions which are outright against this type of thing too. Many anime do encourage strong ties with traditionalism, family values, embracing innate gender-typical behaviours and so on - which is why many leftist outlets have started attacking anime as of late.

Having a strong cultural identity does not mean one can't enjoy certain aspects of other cultures, if we all let go of our own separate and unique cultures and embrace some sort of global, unanimous mega-culture the joy of exploring the world and what it has to offer goes away.

That largely depends on the anime. Stuff like GATE, obviously, is right-wing nationalist propaganda; but that tends to be the exception rather than the rule.

Also, aside from that shmuck on BBC this past weekend, I can't remember any major media outlet's criticism of anime. I'm sure they have, but the fact that I can't recall them speak volumes about how much people actually care.

Agreed, it largely depends on the anime, as it is a medium with a lot variety not a just a genre. I'd like reiterate and change my statement into "a few leftist outlets", I've seen BuzzFeed, The Mary Sue and Kotaku make some negative articles about "anime sexism" et cetera, but they are a lot fewer than I remembered them to be, sorry.

Damn, you guys are really serious about this. I usually just watch anime and don't see it as some left/right propaganda. I don't think watching any anime has made me change my opinion on anything either.

ikr... just watch it and laugh or cry. There's no need to bring politics in to it - I watch anime to forget all that shit for 20 minutes.

I watch anime to escape from politics generally, I'm just defending my ability to enjoy anime and still be consistent in my political philosophy.
