Unlike their casters' magic, Avery's crossbow bolts were mundane, and thus not above the spell's effects. Watching with disbelief as his first shot sailed lazily through the air, he hazarded to catch it between his fingers and nock it on the drawstring anew.
Here he'd have to be crafty. Peering through his sights, taking a knee to steady his aim, he'd observe his beautiful adversary from afar. Hong's eyes widened with shock as the Falchion sliced through her magic barrier, and she was quickly taking a step back to avoid another slash. If he led the target, he could guaruntee a few bolts against her vitals.
Avery took three shots before the spell ended, each one scoring a Critical Hit for 3x damage! Hong is left with 1.4 health and (most likely) surrenders, giving the party a moment's peace.
When the spell wore off, a kick from Lucina would send his opponent careening against the hard stone wall. Christ, she really was strong as an ox.
Avery shielded himself from the resulting debris, before wading through the cloud of thin dust with measured steps; crossbow drawn and aimed, with a finger near the trigger.
Avery: "Eeeasy now, cutie, that's more than enough."
A mutual gaze intimated his intentions. He wanted information.
Avery: "You can start by tellin' us your name. More importantly, why you attacked us."
