Osu newbie. How do YOU play?

I HATE YOU FOR GETTING ME ADDICTED TO OSU! ;3; I had a life.. and kids.. and a beautiful wife.. I had it all. I lost my job, my family, my wallet, and most importantly.. my chicken......

Anyways,

How do you play Osu!? I use a tablet :3

( My Osu! user in Mangacubicle)

I currently play with a mouse and keyboard, although I will probably be getting a decent tablet soon when I get around to it.

My name on Osu! is "Souv" if any of you are interested in adding me 😃

I'll make sure to add you!

A giant tablet that I used for art way back when.

That must be hard ;-;

I started off with the mouse earlier today, but then I saw people on you tube use a tablet. I found it easier to use the tablet /.\

Used to use mouse for about a month or so, then switched to tablet and have been using it since.

I've played with mouse and keyboard from the start (still do).
I have tried other ways but mouse and keyboard is it for me.

add me if you want 🙂 https://osu.ppy.sh/u/4335253
(haven't played for a while cause of school)

To get better at osu!, you just need to keep on putting the time and effort into the game and you will eventually get better at it. Also, you might wanna keep in mind that everybody's learning speed is very different, some pick it up faster than others and others just need more time. When you do start to struggle, it's really important to just take a break, even when starting out. It took me like 2/3 months to get back into the game when I was starting out and my friend completed his first song on insane and got a damn B ranking on it, where I was getting the D's for every song I played. >.<

I would also highly suggest checking out this forum, which I use myself to help improve at the game:

I hope all this helps and finally, my username is: -Riesu-
Just shoot me an in-game message if you would like to be mutual, as there is no friend notification on osu!.

Edit: I just read the title of the thread and realized I messed up again.... anyway, I hope this helps in any case.

How I play osu! is using a Tablet (Wacom Intuos Small CTL-480) and a QuickFire TK Compact Keyboard. I also single-tap with my middle finger. You can find some more details on my userpage in "Equipment, Skin & Other" box.

Oh, this will come in handy, I've been having a bit of difficulty with jumps recently.

Also, do you have any advice or tips for someone who alternate taps? Should I even be doing alt tapping?

I don't really have much on alt tapping, but I know it would be certainly really good to have! since you won't stress your finger so much and that you're sharing the work, evening it out. I can also see streaming being really easy.

As for the second question; it's really all based on preference and what you're most comfortable. There's this player I know and he goes by MEK on osu!, from what I was told, he is apparently an alternating god at it, I reckon if you shoot him a PM that he might be willing to give you some tips on it.

It's also worth while changing up your play style every once and a while, even try out the ones that don't feel too comfortable, as you might do better with it. I'm frequently changing the way I hold the pen and the keys I have bind (sometimes it'll be D+F, other times A+S used to use that one a lot, and I'm currently gone back to Z+X and still on it).

Edit: I'm also trying to expand and change my pen area on my tablet, it used to be small, I even think it was even at the smallest area you can get at one time, and I've been trying to expand it more and more, here's where I'm at now, after about 4 months of expanding and playing at my current level:

It's good to know someone still favors the classics these days. Mouse master race (^:
I dunno if anyone else here has done this, but I've went through a period where I used dual mouse, which is basically using one mouse to move and the other to click/tap. It was shortlived, but it was fun to learn.

I'll be sure to add you, thanks for telling us! 😃

Holy crap lol. i wouldn't be able to play with dual mouse, so props to you.

I currently just play with tablet/keyboard.
My name is Oneesan on Osu, so if you want to add me you can c:

I've attempted to play that game, however, I usually lose in the first 10 seconds due to my complete obliviousness as to how to do literally anything. Smashing my face on the keyboard seems to get me further.

I googled what is OSU . look like some shitty game to me
