Minecraft: Story Mode trailer released

Oh yea I saw this yesterday. I'm guessing on reddit. Anyways, I don't feel like it's ever right to judge a game until you've played it but I can say that they didn't pay attention to details like in the beginning an iron sword is made of cobble... like seriously? Couldn't even get that one right? Also it doesn't have the same charm as Minecraft. I don't have high expectations as this should have never been a thing in the first place.

Oh wow, didn't even notice that.
It also looks a lot like just another Youtube Minecraft animation.
They probably paid some kid with 5k subs to make it. Honestly the trailer didn't change my mind when I originally heard this was a thing.
They're missing the entire point of Minecraft...

Personally, I think the appeal of Minecraft was that there was no official story that anyone could make or share their own adventures and lore. Making this game almost seems to nullify that point.
And the fact that it does a complete 180 with the direction of gameplay. Open-world sandbox to story-based choicemaking?
Another game for me to ignore, I guess. I've only played Minecraft a few times, but I never thought of it having a dramatic story like this. Or a story at all.
Think about it from a 6-10 year old's perspective. "this is sooooo mazing" That is their target audience and is who they want the story to appeal to. If a youtuber can get an easy 10 million subs from producing animations like this, then why wouldn't they use the same stuff for the story mode. When a game has a majority of it's audience from this age group, they aren't looking to get the community involved. It is about getting the kid's parent's money.
