Yeah from what I heard you can downgrade within 30 days if you don't like it. Also it keeps all of your installed files into your "windows.old" folder.

Did it actually make the Windows.old folder for you? For me it just replaced my OS files and kept all of my user data intact. Which version did you come from?

It made it for me. I also went from windows 8 > 10.

Well from what I understand @[deleted] you would get three (3) choices on what to do.

1: Upgrade and transfer EVERYTHING
2: Upgrade and transfer only personal files
3: Fresh and Clean install

Also from what happened to me on both my Desktop which I did only a personal file transfer (running Win 7 Ultimate) and my Tablet with a Fresh Install (running 8.1) they both made a windows.old file and everything that was from the old OS was there including personal files, app data and program installations.

I had no problems with win 7 > Win 10 and everything works... No extra drivers needed. My Tablet on the other hand ran into an issue where I couldn't do anything because the touch screen was disabled by default... Once it had restarted it worked...

There was some UI lag though when I would try to play my Clicker Heroes game with my auto clicker by when I would start it and after 10 seconds I had stopped it but it would keep going for another 3 seconds then it would then stop.

Tablet had driver issues with the sound and Bluetooth but were fixed after some 14 updates

Desktop had no other issues after 2 updates.

update after I had installed Sony Vegas Pro 10 it would not load and would come up with a .NET run time error. I could not install any other .NET because it's already installed a newer version...

VLC had codec issues with .mkv but I was latter told to change some settings and it worked fine

I think that's it for now.

P.S. The xbox app is SO FREAKING COOL! I had trolled my xbox one friends after I had joined there party and I was also on my 360 and they were SO CONFUSED! lol

If you had connected your Micro$oft account and you had friends on the one you can join there parties and actually talk to them.

That's strange, I came from 8.1...

I never got these options, it just transferred my stuff.

That really is strange. Everything was in Japanese for me when I was installing it so I barely understood a thing lol. I guess I clicked the right things through luck?

My Xbox achievements were in Japanese when I installed...
Microsoft confirmed Japanese?

No it's due to us playing VN's while switching the language & locale to Japan. lol

I've never switched my locale. I've installed the Japanese keyboard, though, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Yes I think that's the cause for it.

Quoting the Windows page...

>The Best Windows Ever
wasn't 8 supposed to be like that too?

>In a world of cyber threats, Windows 10 is the most secure Windows ever
not counting all the holes that you're gonna have to patch with Windows Update every day starting today for at least half a year

>Aligned with our more personal computing vision, Windows 10 is more personal and more productive
thank you very much, not pruning my current personal setup just to set it up all over again from the scratch

>Finally, only Windows 10 can offer innovative experiences and new devices
oh, so that's a new multiplatforming system that you can use to connect to your Xbox and shit, good thing I don't need it

>Upgrading to Windows 10 is easy if you have a genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 PC or tablet
errrr, wrong. On my genuine 8.1 system I have absolutely no icon on my taskbar, and yet on my sister's pirated 8.1 system this icon does exist. Fuck me, right?

To summarize, no I didn't upgrade, and neither do I intend to until they show how good the system really is.

not really, mircosoft never said windows 8 was the best windows ever, pretty sure they said windows 10 since it's their lastest windows and they'll keep updating it, (from their previews videos)
and not really, there isn't any secuity holes, you know windows vista? even today they update it and improve it, what i'm trying to say they used windows vista to create windows 10 (many games regonzied my windows as vista while i'm on windows 10) and they added a lot of things to improve it and so on, there might be few secuity holes which will be fixed in few months, 1TB USB is 55$ on amazon man 😛, it's worthy it, yeah but many people going to use it that have xbox and shit, also they didn't talk about the icon, you can use their tool to download windows 10 on mircosoft website, when they said easy, they meant faster and smoother, also you have to make sure all of your drivers up to date.

No problem~

Oh, while I'm at it. If somebody decides to upgrade, can you message me how did the process go? I'm quite interested whether it's a clean installation of a new OS requiring you to format your disk or an upgrade process like 8 > 8.1, which keeps everything you owned.

you can decide to keep or clean instillation, I upgraded already twice to windows 10, on my pc crashed which made me return to windows 7 and on my brother pc, it's still perfect

I'm actually not sure if I should upgrade, considering I just finished personalizing my Windows 7 computer and have to see it go away again. Hopefully it will be as customizable as Windows 7? I'm not sure if I can patch theme files for Windows 10, but someone will probably find a way, since apparently there's a patcher for the technical preview.

All in all, not today Microsoft. Not today.

I got hell of bugs while trying to customize on windows 10 TT, that was around 5 months ago though, they should have improved but I would wait beofre more few months customizing since there'll be a lot of bugs, loads of them,

I will be sticking with Windows 7, thanks. I don't want to lose compatibility for my old games (I still play Starcraft 1 and Touhou)

Enjoy using the outdated OS 😛, jk, but I never found a single problem with any game, just one game couldn't work of the many games I had which is black desert, and it wasnt mircosoft fault, it was black desert company fault, they haven't even fixed it yet TT

@[deleted] I plan to do a clean install on my laptop and was considering doing an upgrade on my one desktop. I'm super ner vous about the desktop becasue its cutsom built, and i dont wanna dick around with drivers, but also it has Photoshop and Illustrator on it... I don't want to lose these. TBH, the only reason i wan to upgrade it is because it was looking like i might need to reinstall Win 7, and I figured this might work out better. You say it saved all you files though? sounds good.

@Nanashi Microsoft released a FAQ on Win 10. They mentioned specifically how, if you need to do a new, clean reinstall, you DO NOT need your old OS disc. You can just install 10 without having to install 8, THEN 10.

I've already upgraded. I need to tether my phone to get wifi now until new drivers are released but it was worth it for the speed improvement imo.

Damn. Mine was easy, fast, and not broken at all. o_O

I respect my freedom, so no. I did not install the new spywarewindows.

I have a 30gb windows 7 partition for games and that is as far as I will go with windows.

You're being spied on regardless of what OS you own lol.

There are no bugs with voice commands as I've seen being reported by users around the web, but it varies between each user.

You should ask "Where is Master Cheif"...
