I have decided to stray away from the red, and have instead opted for a purple:

As much as I love the purp, I still think your should probably allow the changing of the accent color to whatever people want (save the color used to the account data?).

yep, everyone will be able to change the colour of the accent.

you could start off by telling me whether you like or dislike it c:

I really like it, I wish I had this kind of eye for design

I'm in love with this design, still not sure how I feel about the big + circle though. That purple looks awesome.

I'm thinking of changing the icon on the circle to a "reply" icon.

Those stock MYBB stars have to go though.

they're only there temporarily, as i don't have the icon font stars setup locally.

Will this theme be easy for to quickly modify for different color combos? Like if a user sent you a list of colors, could you just drop it in the list and boom, suddenly a user choosable light theme?

What do you mean?

Everyone will be able to switch between a dark and light theme (the light theme will come a little while after the dark theme), and change the colour of the accents by adding a hex colour code in the theme settings page.

The light theme thing was just an example, but say I made a list of colors in some format you defined, and I upload it. Could that list be quickly dropped into the theme on the fly, chosen out of a dropdown of theme color choices by me, and the css would grab its colors from that list. Rather than having to make redundant css files just to change colors.

Sort of, but I think just a list of a few presets chosen by Senpai would work fine, it would just be a more efficient and easy way to do it.

Not to make any assumptions, but from my experience, it wouldn't be very dificult to have the colours be varibles set by the user in the CP. That all depends on the developer's vison for the site though.

it's something i might consider; although yes, it would be easy to allow users to set any colours they want.

The default should be red as it was before though. Purple on black doesn't really look that good and we don't want to scare away guests with an ugly looking forum.

red and black is an overused cliche.

i've heard mostly praise from the people I've shown screenshots of the purple to.

As requested, people can now switch to the new theme in the usercp, to see my progress.

Be warned, it's far from being completed.

When he says it's far from being completed it's quite serious. It still looks nice despite the imperfections, though.

Praise be unto the sen3.14

It's turning out pretty nice, I think. Lines could use a bit more spacing, in my opinion.
