Hmm, I'm wondering how I should go about saving money... I'm also somewhat concerned that any money I save will be worthless if brexit goes ahead. Does anyone have any experience with these things? >_<

You'll be fine. The only thing keeping the pound from being worth more is being attached to the mistake the EU is

I'm not really sure what the American media says about the EU, but I really don't think it's right to call it a mistake. And the fact that it's mostly the right-wing elite that's constantly pushing for an end to the EU is rather telling.

The whole ordeal has already dragged the pound down to near parity with the euro.

Quote in the thread I replied in rather than in this one. And don't assume it's the media it's more of what the net says and what majority of the British want. I don't look at the news just bunch of negativity in it and wings telling people how to think

I replied here because it's a bit more on topic (we might have a politics thread somewhere, but I couldn't be bothered to find it >_>')

The net is just as bad, if not worse. Depending on where you go and who you listen to, you can get completely opposing information. What the majority voted for in 2016 is wildly different to what's on the table now (ignoring the fact that nobody actually knew what leaving the EU would mean - the referendum was extremely vague), and they were heavily influenced by campaigns later found to be breaking electoral law, by spending more money than they were allowed, and using targeted advertising (coughfacebookcoughcambridgeanalyticacough).

The current lot pushing for Brexit are politicians and others from very wealthy backgrounds who would heavily benefit from brexit by shorting the UK's economy. I had a similar discussion with another brexiteer a few days ago, and it all started making sense once they revealed that they get their wage paid in USD... The British economy going through the floor is basically a huge pay rise for those people.

The right-wing media in the UK has consistently managed to convince people to vote against their own interests. One typical line is that Corbyn/Labour (a centre-left party) will raise taxes, and take more of people's hard-earned money. But they conveniently omit the part that says that only top earners (definitely not s*n or dm readers) will actually be affected.

We now have a prorogued parliament that's led by the weakest government and prime minister in probably all of british history.

Thank you for clarifying. Best you can do is make a claim in person. No protest just speak out not in the net. Might not work but it's better than not saying a thing at all.

Or don't see politics one sided. Both or as how many sides there is in a countries politics they are all rich and don't care about the people. They lie to us for votes. Which bothers me that I left being a Democrat long ago and now just vote for props or smaller parties and hopenone day the other 2 die off.

What both parties need to do is finally think of the majority not the minority. Think of the big picture listen to us not some agenda that only few want or would only profit a small few

Sure am glad my parents read the fine print when they said to trust them with my health insurance... Ahah, it's not like I'd end up $20,000 in medical debt, right?

I swear to god, I fucking hate this country.

Boris Johson came to power, lost his majority live on TV, fired his hero's grandson, set the record of losing his first five votes in Parliament (breaking the previous record of four set by Boris Johnson earlier that same evening), lied to the Queen, broke the law. We're in month two.

It's an abstract kind of hell. BoJo's Bizarre Adventure sounds much more chaotic than Trump's antics though I wonder if I've just gotten used to Meme Man's brand of insanity and Boris is something new to me.

Greta Thunberg's situation comes to mind. One passionate teenager who wants to see the world survive the next few decades is bullied for her disabilities and her looks. It's pretty sad.

Yeah... The shmucks I work with were saying she has a resting bitch-face and directly comparing her to Hitler because - get this - she's angry while she talks! Bloody knobheads. I'm pretty sure the only reason her autism wasn't made fun of was 'cause the boss has two special-needs kids himself. >:T

Everything having fucking ads(aids) now. YouTube aggresively shoving youtube premium to me and then always hitting me with 1 of 2 ads. Smart TVs having ads. Fruit/veggie weight machines in stores having ads. Gas stations having ads in the pump like fuck you I don't give a fucking fuck about what you're advertising. And I hate how everyone is okay with it. Is it because it isn't political? Is that why its "that's how life is" bullshit fuck this world

I tend to not pay attention to ads at all, and I quite rarely get them on TV or radio, and I use adblock, but seeing them out in public spaces I really hate. When I lived in Southampton, I remember an old phone box being replaced with a digital billboard - basically a giant black screen constantly sucking up electricity.

The ad situation is quite a bit better in the UK than in Poland though, for example. In pretty much any polish city, you can barely look in any direction without having a billboard somewhere shoved in your face.

Yeah it just shows how cancerous our world got. People not caring for the environment. All politics imo all groups should burn in hell. Vegans with their we kill cows for milk bs. And now ads....WHY. I am 😃 that paper/trees are saved from making catalogs and shit but ads everywhere also digital billboards is one thing i am against. Just another reason for people to get distracted while driving smh no more like head to wall not smh, today I saw ads playing in the self checkout lines :l

Makes me want to try my electrician skills and just short circuit all ad energy wasting screens

Another issue I think is related to how awful the world (mostly the net) is nowadays political in almost everything. Is people who decide their friends need to have the same beliefs as them to be friends. Political or absence of political stance shouldn't be a factor of who you should friend. If it is just talk to your reflection as its who you are going for. It's like deciding friends on race, gender, if handicapped, etc

Lowkey trying to start chatter here

I think the main reasoning for this is due to how polarised politics have been getting again. If everyone's mostly centrist, then differences are small, and ultimately don't matter a whole lot. But since people seem to be tending more towards the ends of the political spectrum, beliefs are becoming stronger, and differences more substantial.

Exactly! Thank you for replying qt

I am >:0 over the ESRB. They confirmed they only see a fucking TWO MINUTE video of a game! Not even when its complete. Never play the fucking game or demo at all! And they grade by that fucking 2 min vid....

Huh... That's quite surprising. I always assumed they just got someone to play through the entire game - or at least the main bits. Who decides what's included in the video?

Whoever is publishing the game, I think. There was a scandal years ago where the ESRB misrated Oblivion because Bethesda didn't include any of the gory content in the game in their video.

ESRB drama came by them rating the casino game called 2K20 a E ranking. In 2006 a republican wanted to change the laws of games but the act never passed. The man knew this shit would happen one day. Luckily congress is looking at it again and at banning loot boxes and gambling in games. Keep that shit in mobile games not in 60 fucking dollar games. ALSO one guy in the ESRB council is ceo of the company that owns 2K....which is why the whole theory of the ESRB is corrupt is/has been happening

Fortunately there's been a bit of noise about loot boxes in the UK as well. Though I doubt much will come of it in the immediate future.

Thing I think is making pc/console games more monetized is the profits shown for 2018. Around 70% of all money made in gaming was mobile games now everyone wants piece of that pie. I know it fits with capitalism but c'mon
