19/06/2015 - Enhanced quick reply.

Posts

I saw something similar on another forum, so I decided to do it (in my opinion) better.

The quick reply now has:
Autocompletion
As you type, compatible tags will appear in a small list that you can navigate with your arrow keys (press tab to put the selection into the editor).

Syntax Highlighting
As you type your bbcode, the tags are highlighted in a different colour.

Multiple Cursors
Need to quickly edit multiple headings at once? Now you can. By holding the ctrl (or cmd on osx) and clicking in the editor, you can create multiple cursors.

Here's an old video I made when I was still working on it.

It's bound to be a little buggy, and is missing a lot of the available bbcodes, but if you notice anything wrong, please let me know.

EDIT: Just moved the files required for the quick reply to our server, as opposed to the shitty cloudflare servers that make it take a long ass time to load and don't load at all on occasion.

heya, we all know about cloudflare simply not loading, i believe

But seriously, make a method for selecting 'no tag' on the tag autocompleter please.

But there's no need to. You simply ignore the autocompleter if you don't want to select a tag.

The method to ignore the autocompleter does not make any logical sense; you have to click the reply box and continue typing. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense 0.o

what are you talking about?

If you want it to ignore something that it thinks is code but isn't code, you have to click somewhere on the page to make the dialogue box go away.

You can just press space and the dialog box will go away.

Says the person that ninja-fixed it to do that when it wasn't doing that before.

test

You should make it so that variables autocomplete or show recommendations as well, prime example being when it shows the size tag, it doesn't autocomplete or even show some recommendations for the size variable.

How about line numbers, we all love those, right?

Also, it'd be pretty cool to have some sort of auto correct feature or be able to have a toggle between "editor mode" and "pure quick reply".

(and possibly add some padding to .ace_content, 5px maybe?)

I don't know, just throwing ideas. I'm gay for this feature, though. I think it's pretty fokin' neato.

EDIT:

Pretty buggy after you post, you should make it clear, and once you post, clicking on the editor fucks scrolling anally. Also, the face when no enhanced editor on the edit functionality as well.

I'll look into it, but it's not a massive priority.

I actually disabled them, because I figured it'd just confuse people that don't code. (but I might have a settings page for the editor, so that people can enable/disable cool features like that).

I'll consider it (the toggle between raw and editor), it wouldn't be too hard either, as the old editor is still there, but hidden - duplicating the content in the "enchanced editor", so that it submits.

I think there's an Ace setting for this, I'll look into it.

They're good ideas, especially since there's still a lot of work to be done on it.

Yeah, I should've checked that. It's a relatively easy fix though.

I might leave it out of that for now, seeing as the quick reply is far from complete.

When we use @ to tag someone, maybe there should be suggestions for that too. 🙂

I'll look into it.
