Turn the sensitivity of your mouse down if it's up high. Never keep your crosshair low, by the time you've shot the opponent in both of his kneecaps he has already shot you in the head and chest, so aim for the head and pull your sight down as you're shooting if you're doing longer bursts or sprays. Never crawl or sneak around corners, they'll see your legs before you turn around the corner and will be ready to shoot you before you've even spotted them.

Those are just some basic things to keep in mind.

Literally this. Go into a deathmatch and practice. Go into a headshot only deathmatch and practice with rifles. Eventually you learn where to keep your crosshairs because you begin to anticipate where the enemies vital points are going to be. You peak around corners preaimed at the headshot level, and with precision you pop their head off.

After that playing competitive helps with the game sense and the call outs. It takes time, but you get better. Don't beat yourself up if you don't rank up, or you derank. You're playing to get better, and rank doesn't necessarily reflect playing skill, at least not in the lower ranks.

Practicing spray control is a good thing to do. You should at least learn the main rifles (M4, AK) so you can adequately spray with them. Doesn't hurt to learn some basic nade/smoke spots, but if you're not comfortable with a map don't worry about it.

I'll try playing with bots for a bit to learn to headshot and practice some of tatics you've mentioned.
I'll also try to learn some of the maps to a decent extent but that's probably going to take a while.
